Abdullahi Ganduje, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has conveyed his congratulations to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State for securing re-election in the recent governorship poll. The APC chairman’s commendation, expressed through his chief press secretary Edwin Olofu, extends to the Kogi State electorate for their substantial support in electing Ahmed Ododo as the governor.
Ganduje highlighted the significant achievements of Governors Uzodinma and Ododo, emphasizing that these successes underscored the alignment of Nigerians with the APC. He noted that the victories in both states demonstrated the citizens’ appreciation for the delivery of democracy dividends by Governor Uzodinma in Imo State and the outgoing Governor Yahaya Bello in Kogi State.
Expressing optimism, Ganduje affirmed the APC’s commitment to fulfilling its promises of good governance. He assured the people of Imo and Kogi States that Governor Uzodinma and Governor-elect Ododo would continue and consolidate the developmental strides and legacies in their respective states.
The APC chairman also called on members of opposition parties to gracefully accept defeat, acknowledging the importance of a robust opposition for the health of democracy. Ganduje encouraged them to collaborate with the elected governors in the collective effort to propel their states forward, emphasizing that there would always be future opportunities to test their acceptability among the electorate.
In the Imo State governorship election, Governor Uzodinma secured victory with 540,308 votes, defeating his closest rival, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Samuel Anyanwu, who garnered 71,503 votes. Meanwhile, in Kogi State, Ahmed Ododo won the governorship election with 446,237 votes, surpassing Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
