The FCT Police Command says reports of the kidnap of 19 persons and killing 12 other persons in the Galadimawa area of the capital city three weeks ago, are false and misleading.
The command said the alleged Kidnapping and killing was thoroughly investigated by the FCT Police Command.
Spokesperson for the command, SP Josephine Adeh in a statememt issued on Wednesday evening, said the claims showed an intention, either deliberately or not, to misguide and instill fear in the public.
SP Adeh conveyed the assurance of the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Haruna G. Garba to the residents of Galadimawa and the entire FCT that the Command has deployed tactical and robust intelligence apparatus to ensure security of life and property.
According to the statment, the CP urged residents to remain vigilant.
It added that the CP warned those spreading fake and baseless reports to desist from doing so.
“He stressed that this misinformation only serves to distort the prevailing peace and tranquility enjoyed by the residents of FCT,” the statememt reads.
“The FCT Police Command remains steadfast in ensuring the safety and security of the public, and urge those spreading misleading information to team with the Command to reduce crime and criminality to the barest minimum.
“The CP urges members of the public to promptly report distress calls and complaints through the following emergency lines: 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653, and 08028940883. Additionally, the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB).”
