Former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele has been granted bail by the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
The court also directed that Emefiele be released to his counsel and that he must be produced in court anytime he is needed.
Justice Adeniyi who presided over the sitting, ordered the embattled former apex bank boss to deposit all his travel documents with the court’s registrar.
He held that there should be an end to a prolonged detention.
Recall that Emefiele, who was suspended by President Bola Tinubu in June this year, was picked up by the Department of State Services (DSS) and was charged with “illegal possession” of firearms.
The charge was, however, dropped and a fresh 20-count charge was instituted against him over an alleged conspiracy to carry out procurement fraud and others.
He was a few weeks released by the DSS but was rearrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
