A suspected member of Aro Bagger confraternity, 39-year-old Charles Debi-Abate, has been arrested in the Oghara area of Delta State for his alleged involvement in the murder of 27-year-old Destiny Idi.
The victim was killed on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Ovie Road, Ogharafe, by some suspected cultists.
The State Police Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, who made this known on Thursday, said preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was also involved in the murder of 42-year-old Onyekachi Chibuzor A.K.A ODOGWU sometime in July.
“He has been involved in numerous cult-related attacks on perceived opponents in Oghara.
“The suspects, though denied being part of the gang that murdered the said Destiny Idi, mentioned the duo of Onyeka and Paul (both surnames unknown) as those responsible for the murder.”
Following his confession, the Police raided the premises of the Onyeka and Paul on Wednesday but the team met their absence.
A search was conducted and two English pump action guns, 20 live cartridges, and one GLK Benz SUV with registration no. RBC-995-DG was recovered.
The suspect and exhibits are in custody while a manhunt for the fleeing suspects is ongoing.
