IGP Commissions New Police Tactical Operation Centre in Rivers

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, on Friday, commissioned the Police Tactical Operation Centre in Rumuepirikom, Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital.

The PTOC, which was built by Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike, will serve as a base for information and intelligence gathering as well as specialized deployments to tackle crimes of armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent crimes.

The Inspector-General of Police expressed his gratitude to Governor Wike for his continual commitment to policing reforms and improvement of police operational structures within the State.

Meanwhile, he pledged to support the Tactical Unit with an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), two gun trucks, and arms and ammunition to aid in service delivery.

He further admonished the Officers who would be deployed to the centre to avoid extortion or meting any form of inhumane acts on citizens.
