Presidency Reacts To President Buhari’s Statement On Niger Republic Defending Him
The Presidency has reacted to President Muhammadu Buhari’s controversial comment on Niger Republic, stating that it’s the President’s way of throwing banters.
President Buhari, who spoke on Tuesday at the inauguration of Nigeria Customs Service Corporate headquarters, said Niger People would defend him if anyone moved against him after May 29, based on the cordial relationship between him and the country.
This statement did not sit well with many Nigerians.
However, the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the President, Garba Shehu, who appeared on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, urged Nigerians to get used to the President’s sense of humour.
“That is absolutely not the case. He has a way of throwing banters, a form of easing tension around himself. Even after eight years, Nigerians must get used to the President’s sense of humor.
“This thing about going to Niger Republic, Nigerians are taking it too seriously,” he said.
