A notorious gunrunner and cultist who has been on the Police wanted list in Delta State has been arrested.

The suspect, 38-year-old Bibi Asengbe, was arrested at his hideout in Okwukoko Community, on Monday, following a tip-off received by the DPO Orerokpe Division, SP Paul Obaware, that he was sighted on a motorcycle around the community.

At the point of his arrest, a locally made English Beretta pistol was recovered from him.

According to the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, an investigation revealed that the suspect was on his way to supply the arm to one of his customers named Marvin (surname unknown) at Jakpa junction Warri for two hundred and fifty thousand naira (N250,000).

An investigation is ongoing to arrest his other accomplices.

In the same vein, a combined team of Policemen from Oghara Division and the State Investigation Bureau (SIB), on Monday, stormed a criminal hideout in Otefe community Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area, where they apprehended one Edafe Ajari, 29 and Wallis Louis,24.

One pump action gun, two double barrel cut-to-size, one battle axe and three live cartridges were recovered.

Also, on Thursday, May 18, acting on a tip-off that some secret cult members were holding a meeting at their hideout in Owhelogbo Community, Isoko North LGA, Police operatives attached to Otor-Owhe Division stormed their hideout and cordoned the area.

The suspected cultists took to their heels but were given a hot chase, and 30-year-old Precious Moses was arrested in the process.

Investigation revealed that the suspect is a member of the Viking Confraternity and part of the syndicate terrorizing the said community, DSP Edafe noted.

A locally made cut-to-size single barrel gun and three live cartridges were recovered from him.
