US Convoy Attack: Security Forces Rescue Two Kidnapped Victims

Joint security forces have rescued the two remaining victims abducted during Tuesday’s attack on a US consulate convoy along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.

The victims were reused unhurt in the early hours of Friday.

It would be recalled that five male officials of the USA consulate and four armed Mobile Police Officers traveled from Lagos State to assess the impact of erosion in Ogbaru LGA. However, on getting to Atani/Osamela road, the assailant attacked them, killed seven of them, and abducted two others.

The Police had since begun a rescue operation which has yielded results.

The State Police Spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, made this development known on Friday.

“In the early hours of today, 19/5/2023, the joint security forces rescued unhurt the two remaining victims abducted during the attack on a US convoy attack along Atani/Osamela road in Ogbaru Local Government Area (LGA) of Anambra State.

“Operations are still ongoing and further details shall be communicated,” he said.
