Police Arrest 40 Suspected Cult Members In Ogun
The Police in Ogun State have arrested no less than 40 suspected members of Eiye and Aiye Confraternities for a series of crimes ranging from armed robbery to killings in the State.
The Command’s Anti-Cultist Team, in collaboration with other tactical teams and Divisional Police operatives, launched an offensive against the suspects at their various hideouts in Sagamu, Odogbolu, Ode-Remo, and some other areas.
According to State Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Oladimeji, who paraded the suspects on Tuesday, they have been unleashing a reign of terror as a result of supremacy battles among them.
“In our continuing clamp down on cultists who have been causing mayhem in different parts of the State, the Command has taken the battle to the doorsteps of all the known cultists in the State, most especially the Sagamu area where various cult groups have been an unleashing reign of terror as a result of supremacy battle amongst them.
“The war against cultism and other crimes is a continuous one and the Command will not leave any stone unturned in this onerous task,” he said.
He also stated that 24 suspected cult members were charged in Court in the last week.
While reiterating that the Command is determined to rid the State of cultism and other social vices, the CP admonished parents to caution their wards to desist from any act capable of undermining the security of the State.
