Man Kills Mother For Refusing To Give Him N20,000
A young man in Rivers State, identified as Owate Bode, allegedly hacked his biological mother to death with a hoe for refusing to give him the sum of N20,000.
The incident happened on Saturday at their residence in Aleto community, Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State.
As seen in a video recorded at the point of his arrest, the suspect said he requested the sum of N20,000 from his mother as pocket money to enable him to attend a funeral service within the community.
However, she gave him only ten thousand naira(10,000,00) out of the money she withdrew from the bank.
He said he was upset and he hit her with the hoe in the kitchen while she was about to prepare food.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Effiong Okon, has ordered the transfer of the suspect from Eleme Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for discreet investigation.
