Mother Kidnaps Six-Year-Old Daughter, Demands N3m Ransom
A mother, Rahma Sulaiman, who allegedly kidnapped her six-year-old daughter in Madobi Local Government of Kano State, has been arrested.
The 25-year-old suspect took her daughter to a hideout and called her daughter’s father claiming that the abductors were demanding Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00) as ransom to secure their daughter’s release.
Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Gumel, paraded the suspect at the Command Headquarters on Thursday.
He said, “On 08/05/2023, a report was received from one Kabiru Shehu of Sharada Quarters, Kano Municipal LGA that his divorced wife, one Rahma Sulaiman, ‘f’, 25 years old informed him that his daughter named Hafsat Kabiru, ‘f’, 6 years old was missing and that unknown persons called her through her mobile phone demanding the sum of Three Million Naira (N3,000,000:00k) as ransom. In a follow-up investigation, the victim was rescued in Madobi LGA. The divorced wife was arrested and confessed to have planned, took her daughter to a hideout and demanded the ransom. Investigation is in progress.”
In the same vein, a 45-year-old woman, identified as Zainab Rabi’u, allegedly masterminded the abduction of her six-year-old nephew, Almustapha Bashir.
The suspect and her accomplices initially demanded Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000:00) as ransom, but the victim’s family negotiated for Five Million, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N5,150,000:00).
Other suspects arrested in connection with the crime are 27-year-old Abdurrashid Sa’idu, 24-year-old Hassan Abdullahi, and 25-year-old Ahmed Saleh.
According to the CP, the victim’s father reported the incident at the Police Station on April 4, 2023, and the victim was rescued unhurt.
“On April 4, 2023, a report was received from a resident of Kofar Ruwa Quarters, Dala LGA, Kano State that his son, one Almustapha Bashir, ‘m’, six years old, was kidnapped and a ransom of Twenty Million Naira (N20,000,000:00) was demanded which they settled at Five Million, One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N5,150,000:00).
“In a follow-up of the investigation, the victim was rescued unhurt and the following suspects were arrested, (i) Zainab Rabi’u, ‘f’, 45 years old of Gwammaja Quarters, a mastermind and an aunt to the victim that organized and arranged the Kidnapping. (ii) Abdurrashid Sa’idu, ‘m’, 27 years (iii) Hassan Abdullahi, ‘m’, 24 years old and (iv) Ahmed Saleh, ‘m’, 25 years old, all of Sheka Quarters Kano. All suspects confessed to the crime and will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.”
