Terrorists Attack Kaduna Church, Abduct 40 Worshippers

No less than 40 worshippers were, on Sunday, abducted by terrorists during a church service at Bege Baptist Church, Madala, Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state.

The Chairman of the Kaduna State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Joseph Hayab, who disclosed this development on Monday, said that 15 victims escaped while 25 others remain in captivity.

He said the terrorists invaded the church at about 9:30 am.

“The worshippers were in the Sunday service in the church when around 9:30 am, they heard gunshots very close to the church. The gunmen attacked the church and went away with about 40 worshippers.

“Along the way, 15 of the abducted persons returned, remaining 25 who are presently in captivity without any word from their abductors.”

He maintained that efforts are being made to get in contact with the abductors concerning the remaining people.

“We pray that the abductors would be merciful to release the remaining 25 back to their families,” he added.

When contacted, the Spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Mohammad Jalige, noted that he would contact the Divisional Police Office (DPO) of the affected area for prompt action.
