Police Kill Two Gunmen, Arrest Suspected Armed Robbers In Anambra

Joint operations by Operatives of Anambra State Police Command and other security agencies have yielded positive results as two suspected gunmen were killed and four others were arrested.

The Operatives, while on routine patrol along Usmusiome Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area of the State, intercepted a gang of four hoodlums at about 8:45 pm on Sunday. The hoodlums engaged the team in a gun battle, two of them were shot dead while two others escaped.

Police Kill Two Gunmen, Arrest Suspected Armed Robbers In Anambra Two locally made explosives, one Ak47 rifle, nine live 7.62 ammunition, four Ak47 magazines, charms, and other incriminating items were recovered from them.

Similarly, an armed robbery syndicate was nabbed vandalizing a truck suspected to have been stolen at Azu Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area, on Sunday.

The suspects are 51-year-old Nwusulor Fidelis, 44-year-old Iloegunam Amobi, 51-year-old Solomon, and 28-year-old Chidiebere Innocent.

According to the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects confessed to the crime and are currently helping the police with information on other syndicate members that dispossess innocent drivers of their trucks before bringing them to their criminal hideout at Azu Ogbunike.

He noted that there are so many joint operations ongoing with the security forces, especially vigilantes, aimed at sustaining and enhancing safety in the State.
