Three Police Officers have been killed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen at a checkpoint in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
A video clip that went viral showed the Police Officers lying in a pool of their blood.
It was gathered that pandemonium broke out in the area on Thursday when the gunmen invaded the area and shot sporadically, forcing residents to scamper for safety.
Reacting to the incident, the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, noted that a manhunt has been launched for the fleeing suspects.
“It is an unfortunate incident and is part of the highest price security officers pay in serving the nation but the Police Command is not deterred by this development.
“The reinforcements teams are already in the area and the manhunt for the assailants is ongoing while joint security patrols have been intensified in the area.”
