
Delta Police Declare War On Kidnappers, Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers
Delta State Police Command has declared war on suspected kidnappers terrorizing Warri and Ughelli axis of the State.
Operations carried out by the Command’s Tactical Operatives in mapped-out locations resulted in the death of a suspected kidnapper and the arrest of five others, the Police Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, said.
In the early hours of Thursday, the DPO ‘B’ Division Warri, SP Bolarinwa Alabi, received a distress call that some armed robbers snatched a black Lexus car along Warri-Sapele Road and were robbing innocent citizens using the stolen car.
The DPO swiftly mobilized and led a striking force team of the Division, who trailed the hoodlums and caught up with them.
The hoodlums, numbering about four, exchanged gunfire with the Police, and while escaping into the bush, one of them was hit and fatally wounded. The injured suspect gave up the ghost while receiving treatment
One locally made cut-to-size double barrel gun with two live cartridges, one suspected stolen vehicle with reg. no PYN 595 PW were recovered.
Similarly on Monday, at about 10: 00 pm, the DPO Ughelli division led Police operatives on patrol along Ughelli/Asaba road, where they intercepted one Odogun Ifeanyi, 36; and one other suspect.
One locally made single barrel gun with four live cartridges and one jackknife was recovered.
On the same day, the DPO and his men also arrested one Ediri Omote and two others, and one locally made single barrel gun with nine expended cartridges was recovered from them.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations, DCP Johnson Ademola, has assured residents that the Command will leave no stone unturned in the fight against crime and criminality.
