EFCC Arrests 19 Akwa Ibom Varsity Students For Alleged Internet Fraud

Operatives of the Uyo Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Friday, raided the private hotels in Akwa Ibom State University, Mkpat-Enin, arresting 19 undergraduates for alleged internet fraud.

According to EFCC, their arrest followed several months of surveillance on their suspected involvement in romance scams, fraudulent cryptocurrency transactions, and impersonation.

Several laptops and mobile phones were recovered from them.

They will be charged to court as soon as the investigations are concluded.
