Arrested Serial Killer/Ritualist Offers Police N1m Bribe

A member of a notorious syndicate wanted for murder and ritual killing has been arrested in Ogun State.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Ifasoji Ayangbesan, met his waterloo on Friday after detectives attached to Obalende Divisional Headquarters, Ogun State Police Command, stormed his hideout at Ijade Iloti area of Ijebu Ode. 

According to the Police, the suspect and other members of his syndicate allegedly killed and dismembered a victim, Oyindamola Adeyemi, at Ijebu Ode on the 28th of January, 2023.

While the Police apprehended his accomplices, he took to flight immediately. However, his accomplices revealed that Ayangbesan was the person who bought the two legs of the victim, and the Police began trailing him.

During the arrest, the suspect made an offer of one million naira (N100,000,000:00) as a bribe to the Policemen, which was rejected.

“Luck ran against him when he was apprehended at his Ijade Iloti hideout on the 28th of April 2023. Immediately after he was arrested, the suspect made an offer of one million naira bribe to the Policemen, which was rejected. On interrogation, he confessed been part of the syndicate that killed Oyindamola Adeyemi and that he was the person who severe the two legs of the deceased, which he claimed he used for ritual purposes,” the State Police Spokesperson, SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Olanrewaju Olademeji, who commended his men for their uprightness, has directed that the suspect be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department to prosecute him with other members of his syndicate.
