Man Sentenced To Death For Murdering Wife, Four Children
A 41-year-old man, Michael Wayne Jones, has been sentenced to death after he was found guilty of beating his wife, Casei Jones, to death with a metal baseball bat, and killing their four children in Florida.
Jones strangled his stepsons, Cameron Bowers, 9; Preston Bowers, 4; to death and drowned his biological daughters, Mercalli Jones, 2; and 11-month-old Aiyana Jones.
Authorities believe the murders occurred between July 10 and August 30, 2019.
In January 2023, the Jury recommended the death penalty for a convict, however, Marion County Circuit, Court Judge Anthony Tatti, formally ordered that Jones be executed by the State on Friday.
Jones pleaded guilty in November to four counts of first-degree murder in the children’s deaths and one count of second-degree murder in Casei’s death.
Jones was detained in Georgia after he was involved in a single vehicle crash in September 2019. Upon questioning, Jones told law enforcement officials that his wife’s remains were inside the vehicle. He later confessed to killing the children and led detectives to the locations where he discarded their bodies.
