
Man Arrested, Charged For Strangling Friend To Death In Enugu
A 24-year-old man, identified as Agbo Onuabuchi, faces a murder charge after he allegedly strangled his friend to death and buried his remains in a shallow grave at Amori community in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The victim, 44-year-old Peter Ukekwe, and the suspect travelled from Ogidi, Anambra State, to Amori community on April 1st, 2023, to visit a native doctor, Onyeka Edeh.
However, the suspect and the deceased left the house for an unknown destination in the night and none of them were found until the next morning when the suspect was caught while attempting to flee to Ogidi.
He was arrested at Obe community in the same LGA by Police Operatives attached to Nkanu West Division.
The suspect confessed to the crime, stating that he strangled the victim to death and buried him in a shallow grave in the bush, where his remains were exhumed and deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy, the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, said.
After the investigation was concluded, detectives attached to the Homicide Department of the State CID Enugu arraigned the suspect in Court, where he was remanded in Enugu Custodial Centre until further hearing.
