
IGP Replaces Adamawa Election CP Over Guber Polls
The Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, CFR, has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Commissioner of Police in charge of election, Adamawa State, CP Mohammed Barde, and replaced him with Commissioner of Police Gombe, CP Etim Oqua, to conclude the guber election process in Adamawa.
The Force Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, made this known on Tuesday.
Speaking on the decision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to write to the IGP for the immediate investigation and possible prosecution of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State, Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, the FPRO noted that the Force has not received any letter but a thorough investigation will be conducted on the incident in collaboration with the INEC.
“So, if INEC sends in any letter, we will treat it as recommended as well. Also, the IGP has ordered the redeployment of the CP election Adamawa and replaced him with CP Gombe, CP Etim Oqua, who has been directed to proceed to Yola immediately for the conclusion of the guber election process in Adamawa. We are committed to having a more secure and successful process in Adamawa, “he said.
Controversy has surrounded Adamawa supplementary polls after the REC, Hon. Ari, declared Sen. Aisha Dahiru Binani, winner of the 2023 Adamawa governorship election on Sunday while coalition was ongoing.
