Inspector Arrested For Shooting Man Dead Over 100 Bribe

An Inspector attached to Delta State Police Command has been arrested for shooting a man, identified as Onyeka Ibe, dead over an alleged N100 bribe on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred along the Ugbolu-Illah Road, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State. 

The suspect, identified as Inspector Ebri Ubi, was on stop and search duty when he committed the crime.

A mob carried the corpse of the young man in protest to the premises of the Police Headquarters in Asaba, demanding justice.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, immediately ordered the arrest and detention of the errant Police Officer, noting that the Force is a disciplined organization and will not condone such cruel action. He also condoled the family and friends of the deceased.

According to the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Asaba, for a thorough and speedy investigation.

Meanwhile, members of the public are urged to remain calm and law-abiding as justice will be served.
