
Military Troops Kill 14, Arrest 40 Terrorists in IPOB Enclaves
Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation UDO KA in the South East zone have neutralised 14 suspected outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)/Eastern Security Network (ESN) and arrested 40 others in various operations aimed at restoring peace and normalcy in the zone.
Troops conducted cordon and search operations at villages in Igo-Eze and Isi-Uzo North Local Government Areas of Enugu State on March 10, 2023. During the operations, troops arrested 18 suspects and killed two.
They also recovered four serviceable and two unserviceable pump action guns, 11 cartridges, 13 machetes, three knives, 161 Permanent Voters Cards, ten pairs of boots, one handcuff, and three camp beds among others items.
Between Saturday, March 11 and Tuesday, March 14, 2023, troops raided the IPOB camp in villages within Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, Enugu South Local Government Area of Enugu State and Oguta Local Government Area of Imo State, made contact with hoodlums, neutralized two terrorists and arrested seven.
One AK47 rifle, seven pump action guns, four dane guns, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, ten rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, one locally made pistol, seven live cartridges, one double barrel gun, two cutlasses, five locally made handcuffs, one vehicle, six motorcycles, 34 pairs of IPOB/ESN uniforms, and three black boots were recovered.
Troops on patrol to Nenwe Junction in Aniri Local Government Area of Enugu State and villages in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State had encounters with IPOB/ESN. Troops pursued the criminals and in the gunbattle that ensued, three criminals were neutralized and seven arrested.
The troops recovered four AK47 rifles, ten pump action guns, three locally fabricated pistols, 46 empty cases of ammunition, three AK47 magazines, 170 rounds of 7.62mm special, one carton and 17 pieces of cartridges, one cutlass, four Boafeng radios, five mobile phones and eight motorcycles.
Within the past two weeks, troops neutralized seven criminals and arrested 32 IPOB/ESN criminals.
They also recovered five AK47 rifles, 29 pump action guns, three dane guns, four locally made pistols, one double barrel gun, two rounds of 9mm ammunition, 188 rounds of 7.62mm special, 46 empty cases of ammunition, seven live cartridges, three magazines, four boafeng radios, 16 machetes, three knives, 14 motorcycles, one vehicle, five mobile phones and several pairs of Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network uniforms and boots.
All recovered items and apprehended suspects have been handed over to the appropriate authority for further action.
