A 75-year-old grandmother, Iforiti Oloro, has allegedly set her son, Victor, daughter-in-law, Racheal, and grandchildren ablaze in Apomu community, Akure, Ondo State.

The tragic incident occurred over the weekend when the victims were asleep. The suspect allegedly confessed that she set them ablaze because they were starving her of food.

An eyewitness, who is the victim’s neighbour, narrated how all efforts to save the victims proved abortive as they gave up the ghost. However, one child is still in critical condition at the Federal Medical Centre FMC, Owo.

According to the eyewitness, the suspect used some dry palm fronds and the petrol her son kept in a gallon to torch the house. He stated that he and other members of the community had initially rushed the victims to the government hospital in Akure but they were rejected and referred to the Federal Medical Center in Owo.

On getting to Owo, the two-year-old child died, and the parents died soon after.
