Policemen Prohibited From Escorting VIPs To Polling Units

Osun State Police Command has prohibited Policemen attached to governors, ministers, and other government functionaries from escorting their principals to polling units during elections.

According to the State Police Spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, any Officer found to have flouted this directive will be subjected to disciplinary actions.

She noted that other security outfits or organisations not constitutionally empowered to participate in the election duty are advised to steer off the electoral process if not, they will be sanctioned under the extant laws.

The Command also banned the use of sirens, revolving lights and tinted car windows by unauthorized citizens during the elections period.
