
2023 Elections: Kano Police Command Arrest Political Thugs, Recover Weapons.
To sanitize the environment for a peaceful 2023 General Elections come Saturday 25th February 2023, operatives of Kano State Police Command has carried out raids in criminal hideouts and black spots and arrested hoodlums that may likely disrupt the election processes in the State
In the raid that spanned from January 1st, 2023, to date, 364 suspects linked to cases of kidnapping, armed robbery, and political thuggery were arrested. 248 suspects were charged to Court for prosecution, while 116 suspects are still under investigation.
Among those arrested were two female suspects, Amina Yusuf and Habiba Iman of Bachirawa Quarters Kano. The two female suspects were arrested at Bachirawa with 49 suspected Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) in their possession on February 4, 2023. The suspects said they were members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and wanted to use the PVCs for empowerment.
Similarly, on January 21, 2023, 16 suspects were arrested with dangerous weapons and illicit drugs during an NNPP Gubernatorial Campaign rally at Ja’oji Quarters Kano while attacking and robbing innocent citizens. Also, on January 24, 2023, one Abdullahi Musa and three others, who are members of APC engaged in a scuffle and members of NNPP and destroyed the banners of thor political parties.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Dauda, has asserted that the Command, in conjunction with other security agencies in the State, has mapped out strategies and is committed to ensuring a free, fair, credible, transparent, and successful 2023 General Election.
