The Nigeria Police Force, on Friday, dismissed a Corporal, Opeyemi Kadiri with Force No. 509745, attached to Dolphin Estate Division of the Lagos State Police Command.
He was enlisted into the Force on December 6, 2016.
The video recording of the Corporal assaulting a young man for resisting him while he was attempting to search the man’s phone on the street went viral on social media on August 3, 2022. The Officer was immediately identified, detained, and summoned to the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Louis Edet House, Abuja, for his orderly room trial.
It would be recalled that the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has reiterated that no Policeman has the right to check one’s phone anywhere except the phone is an exhibit in a case under investigation.
The Police calls on officers and men of the Force to maintain professionalism and civility to members of the public in the discharge of their duties in line with extant laws.
