The Nigeria Police Force, on Monday, dismissed a Police Constable after he was identified in a viral video flogging a man mercilessly with a machete on July 31, 2022.
The dismissed Officer named Liyomo Okoi with AP Number 524503 was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on October 28, 2019, and served in Ekori Divisional Headquarters, Cross Rivers State Command.
The decision to dismiss the Officer by authorities followed the outcome of an orderly room trial which proved that Liyomo had contravened the extant laws governing the conduct of Police personnel.
“The Force has reviewed his orderly room proceedings and he has ceased to be a member of the Force. Therefore, we want to urge members of the public not to relate with him as a member of the Nigeria Police Force,” the Force Police Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated as he announced his dismissal.
The FPRO added that the Force leadership had not sent its Officers to harass, extort or engage in corrupt practices that maligned the standards and values of the institution.
