Imo State Police Command has confirmed the attack on Agwa Police Station, Oguta Local Government Area, in the late hours of Friday and identified the attackers as suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militia affiliate, Eastern Security Network (ESN).

In the attack, two suspects in custody escaped, four Police Officers lost their lives, and one rifle is yet to be recovered.

According to the Police, the hoodlums forced the gate of the station open using a tipper, which was one of the vehicles they came in, and threw Improvised Explosives Devices (IEDs) and petrol bombs.

The fire affected a parked private car and some motorcycles but was put out before it got out of control.
