Troops of Operation SAFE HAVEN have arrested five suspected gun runners and kidnappers in clearance operations in Shendam and Barkin Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State.

Three suspected gunrunners, identified as 37-year-old Julius Simon (alias Bagga), 45-year-old Wolta Zambai, and 27-year-old Iliya Peter, were arrested at Shimakar village, Shendam LGA on Sunday.

Troops also arrested two suspected kidnappers, 27-year-old Alhaji Musa Usman and 25-year-old Adam Mohammed, at Barkin Ladi LGA, on Sunday.

According to the Director of Defence Media Operation, Major General Benard Onyeuko, the suspects confessed to carrying out several kidnapping activities- including the abduction of six-year-old Master Jeremiah Elijah on July 21, 2022.

He added that the suspects are undergoing further interrogation.
