FCT Police Command has confirmed that missing Safiyanu Amira has been found but debunked reports that armed men in Police uniform kidnapped no less than 17 persons within Abuja metropolis.
Safiyanu Amira raised an alarm on Twitter that she was allegedly abducted alongside 17 others at gunpoint by armed men in Police uniforms on Tuesday. Immediately, FCT Police Command drafted tactical and intelligence assets to rescue the victims and get to the root of the matter.
The Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Command, ASP Oduniyi Omotayo, disclosed this recent update in a statement issued on Friday.
“The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command wishes to categorically debunk the viral news of the alleged kidnapping of one Safiyanu Amira and 17 others, who were reportedly abducted at gunpoint by Armed men in Police uniform on Tuesday at about 1:00 pm and to state that Safiyanu Amira is currently safe in Police custody.
“While she is currently in the hospital receiving medical attention as demanded by global best practices, the investigation continues and findings will be communicated subsequently.”
Meanwhile, the Command Commissioner, CP Babaji Sunday, while commending the gallantry of the operatives detailed on the case, appreciated the members of the public for their calm and the various degrees of useful information given to the Police.
