Operatives attached to the Safe Delta Tactical Squad of Delta State Police Command have arrested a driver, Innocent Uboh, who was conveying 1124 rounds of live cartridges and illicit drugs.
The suspect was arrested on Thursday during a stop and search at the boundary between Delta State and Anambra State.
The Officers recovered the live cartridges, 20 bottles of codeine, and other illicit drugs from the Toyota Hiace bus with reg. no FGG 645 ZV, the driver drove.
According to the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, the suspect claimed that the cartridges belonged to a man in Ogume named Monday Adibeli.
He added that on the strength of the suspect’s confession, operatives were deployed to Ogume where the alleged owner of the cartridges was arrested.
