Following the directive of FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Sunday Babaji, operatives of FCT Police Command have arrested a man, identified as Nweke Chadikaobi of Range view Estate, Dawaki, for allegedly beating and inflicting injuries on his 10-year-old relative, Oluebibe Emmanuel.
CP Babaji had ordered the immediate investigation, arrest of the suspect, and the recovery of the minor for medical attention after a video showing the bruised back of the minor went viral.
The suspect, who was arrested on Monday, told the Police that the minor bed wets among several offences, which led to him striking him.
The victim has been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of child trafficking in person (NAPTIP) for special care, while the investigation continues, the Command Spokesperson, DSP Josephine Adeh, stated.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has urged residents not to keep mute about such occurrences in their neighbourhoods but report them to the Police.
