Operatives attached to Zamfara State Police Command have arrested a man, identified as Jabiru Ibrahim, for culpable homicide and being in possession of a human hand.
According to the Police, the suspect is a member of the outlawed group popularly known as Yansakai and is from Dauran district in Zurmi Local Government Area of the State.
The State Police Spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, noted that the suspect confessed that the human had found with him belonged to a victim he allegedly killed.
“The suspect was arrested by the joint Police and Military operatives on anti-banditry operation along Dauran-Zurmi axis and brought to the Police Command Headquarters, Gusau, for discreet investigation.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect was among the members of the outlawed group (YANSAKAI) who have been terrorizing members of Dauran Community through jungle justice, leading to reprisal attacks by bandits-terrorists against the innocent members of the public.
“In the course of interrogation, the suspect has confessed that he and three others currently at large carried out the gruesome killing of one Abdullah, a Fulani by tribe, and removed the right hand of the deceased,” he said.
A bag containing chars was also recovered from the suspect.
An investigation is ongoing to arrest those still at large and unravel the circumstances of their action before being charged to court for prosecution.
