The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), on Monday, arraigned a former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, before a Federal High Court in Abuja.

He was arraigned alongside six others before Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on 17-count charges bordering on conspiracy, stealing, conversion of public funds and money laundering to the tune of N3,147, 000, 000( Three Billion, One hundred and Forty Seven Million Naira).

Mr. Okorocha, who was arrested by EFCC on Tuesday, May 25, 2022, had filed a bail application premised on the grounds that his presidential ambition under the platform of the All Progressives Congress could be imperiled unless granted bail, which was declined by Justice Ekwo.

At the hearing on Monday, Senator Okorocha pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Therefore, Justice Ekwo ordered his remand at EFCC Custody and adjourned the case until Tuesday for a hearing of the bail application filed by Okorocha.
