A Joint Security Tactical Team has foiled attacks by armed bandits on Munyan, Shiroro, and Paikoro Local Government Areas of Niger State.

The team was drafted to the area after the Police received a distress call that armed bandits were sighted at Zazagha and Injita villages of Munya LGA. However, when they got to the location, they discovered that the bandits had divided themselves into different groups, with some of them heading to Fuka and Daza villages.

The tactical teams advanced to these areas, engaged the bandits in a fierce gunbattle, and repelled them.

According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the hoodlums later extended to Gwalo village, Kafin koro area of Paikoro LGA and the Joint Team responded swiftly, recovering cattle from the bandits.

Also, reinforcements were sent to Mutun-Daya village, Shiroro LGA upon the receipt of information that another group of bandits was sighted in the area.

A number of bandits were neutralized, while others escaped into the forest with gunshot injuries.
