An explosion, suspected to have been caused by a gas leak, rocked a drinking joint, Labi beer parlour, in Lewu junction, Kabba, Kogi State, on Wednesday, leading to the death of a female victim while others sustained injuries.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, who confirmed the incident, stated that State Commissioner of Police, CP Edward Egbuka, deployed teams of personnel from the Police Mobile Force, Quick Response Unit as well as conventional Officers to the scene along with the Military personnel to control access and evacuated the victims to Hospital.

One Aisha who was injured by the explosion and evacuated to the hospital with others later died, while others are receiving treatment, he said.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has also directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police Investigation to commence an investigation into the incident along with the personnel of the Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD) to unravel the cause of the explosion.
