Two suspected cultists have been arrested by operatives of Ogun State Police Command following a supremacy battle between Aiye and Eiye cult group at Elega/Iberekodo axis of Abeokuta metropolis. The clash also left one Eiye member dead.
In the early hours of Sunday, the Police received a distress call about the unrest and the SWAT Commander, Kalejaye Olanrewaju, quickly led his men to the scene, where the suspects, Habeeb Muideen and one Ibrahim, were arrested.
In a statement, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed that Habeeb Muideen was arrested at Iberekodo while Ibrahim was apprehended in Ajitadun area.
Battle axes and charms were recovered from the suspects.
According to the PPRO, the Command has apprehended no fewer than 37 members of various cult groups in a clampdown on cultists in the state within the last one month.
