The Police in Niger State have arrested a 25-year-old man, Bashir Ibrahim, for allegedly killing his friend, 28-year-old Hassan Shehu, and fleeing with his car and two million naira.
The deceased, who is a businessman at Kure Market in Minna, was invited to Tudun-Fulani area of Bosso by the suspect for a purported business transaction. However, Bashir had connived with two others to dispossess the victim of the money in his car when he got to the venue.
Unfortunately, when the deceased arrived at the venue, he struggled with the suspects and was stabbed to death. His Peugeot 206 vehicle and about two million naira he had in the car were stolen.
The case of culpable homicide was reported at Bosso Division on the 12th of April, 2022, and the Police, acting on technical intelligence, arrested Bashir Ibrahim and Aliyu Ibrahim on Tuesday.
“During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they conspired with one Suleiman Mahmud, presently at large, to tie the victim and dispossessed him of the money in his car. But on entering the house, the deceased struggled with Suleiman, so Aliyu stabbed him in the chest and abandoned him to bleed to death.
“ Bashir, whom the deceased was his best man during his wedding last year, further confessed to have escaped from the scene with the victim’s vehicle, which contained about two million naira, and later travelled to Kano to purchase some chemical for washing of gold items from the money,” the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said in a statement on Thursday.
The Police recovered the sum of N524, 000, two bottles of suspected chemical substances that Bashir claimed to have purchased from Kano with N700,000, and the victim’s vehicle.
DSP Abiodun noted that the suspects would be arraigned in Court for criminal conspiracy, culpable homicide, and receiving stolen property immediately after the investigation is concluded.
