The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) will thoroughly investigate the cause of the Super Mushshak trainer aircraft crash that occurred on Tuesday at NAF Base, Kaduna, according to the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao.

Two pilots, identified as Flight Lieutenant Abubakar Muhammed Alkali and Flight Lieutenant Elijah Haruna Karatu, lost their lives in the crash.

In a statement issued by the NAF Spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the Chief of Air Staff had constituted an Accident Investigation Board to determine the immediate and remote causes of the crash.

Air Marshal Amao visited Kaduna State on Wednesday to commiserate with families, friends, and colleagues of the late Officers and assured the Officers, Airmen and Airwomen of 401 Flying Training School that all measures will be emplaced to avert a similar occurrence in the future.

The unfortunate incident of the trainer aircraft crash is yet again a tragic reminder of the perilous nature of the military flying profession as well as the risks NAF pilots continually take daily to secure Nigeria’s territorial integrity, Air Commodore Gabkwet maintained.
