The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba psc(+), NPM, fdc, has acquired several security assets to aid in tackling insecurity across the length and breadth of the country and fighting criminal elements who are bent on truncating its security system, peace, and harmony.
The new equipment include 55 Lorries, five water tankers, two coaster buses, and 15 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs).
The IGP has directed that the logistics and assets be made available for Police operatives at the forefront of crisis areas.
IGP Baba has also released adequate funds to upgrade the Police ICT platforms to the required status, capable of combating the present security issues and realities in Nigeria as such would go a long way in alleviating the operational challenges of Police troops on various tactical operations in Nigeria, according to the Force Spokesperson, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement.
Also, the Police Airwing would step up its platforms and logistics to provide air support for the ground troops whenever they are on operation in the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the IGP has appealed to Nigerians to not be frightened by the presence of the heavily armed Police Tactical Squads as they have been warned to be professional, civil, and operate within the ambit of the law.
He also sought maximum cooperation with Police operatives in many areas, especially information sharing, to make the operations successful.
