Former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has expressed deep sadness over the tragic death of two Police Officers attached to him following an accident that occurred on Thursday in Abuja.

The Former President was on his way to Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport when the car conveying the security personnel was involved in an auto crash.

The deceased Officers were identified as Inspector Ibrahim Abazi and Inspector Yakubu Toma.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media & Publicity, Ikechukwu Eze, the ex-President who described the incident as painful and heart-rending, said the sudden death of the two security details has thrown him into deep mourning.

Also, two other Officers, who sustained injuries in the accident, are responding to treatment.

“The office of the former President has offered condolences to the families of the bereaved and the Police High Command. Dr. Jonathan prayed to God to grant the souls of the departed eternal rest and bless their families and the nation with the fortitude to bear the loss,” the statement added.
