The Police in Delta State have rescued 13 victims abducted by a gang of daredevil kidnappers who intercepted a vehicle conveying the victims along Aniagbala Community via Ubulu-Uku Express Road in Aniocha South LGA of Delta State.

According to the Police, at about 8:40 am on Sunday, the suspected kidnappers intercepted the fourteen-seater bus with reg no M831-FJK, conveying sixteen occupants, and forced 13 passengers into the bush.

In a statement issued on Monday by the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Bright Edafe, after receiving a report of the incident, the DPO Ogwashi-Uku Division, CSP Mohammed Naallah, led a combined team of Police Operatives and Vigilantes into the bush and gave the hoodlums a hot chase which led to an exchange of gunfire.

“During an exchange of gunfire, one of the suspects was hit and died on the spot while the other members of the gang escaped with bullet injuries. All thirteen kidnapped victims were rescued alive and unhurt and one AK47 rifle was recovered,” he said.

He added that security personnel are combing the bush to apprehend the other fleeing members of the gang.
