A suspect identified as 18-year-old Abdulsamad Suleiman of Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters, Gwale LGA Kano State, and his accomplice, 17-year-old Mu’azzam Lawan, have been arrested for allegedly killing a 21-year-old housewife and injuring her two children.

The suspects were arrested following a report received from the deceased husband, who told the Police that on the 12th of February, 2022, when he returned home from work, he met his wife, Rukayya Jamilu, on her bed in a pool of her blood, and also his two children, three-year-old Anwar Jamilu, and one-year-old Amina Jamilu, with grievous injuries.

On receipt of the report, the team moved to the scene and rushed the victims to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital Kano, where the housewife was examined and confirmed dead by Medical Doctor and the two children admitted.

According to the State Police Spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, in a statement, further investigations conducted by the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department and DSS led to the arrest of the suspects.

“On discreet investigation, the principal suspect confessed that on 12th of February, 2022, at about 4:00 pm, he went to the house of the deceased, who is his relative, and met her on the bed. After he greeted her, he saw three mobile phones and took them.

“Having realized that she recognized him, he used a wooden-made pestle and repeatedly hit her on her head, hit her two children, and left with the Mobile phones.

“He further confessed that he gave one of the mobile phones to his friend and sold the other two at N12,000. His friend was also arrested and confessed to selling the mobile phone given to him at N2,000,” the Command Spokesperson said.

He added case would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
