A driver, Akinola Sulaimon, is currently in Police custody after ramming into some shop at Amje bus stop, Ajegunle, Alagbado, Lagos State, on Sunday, killing one and injuring five others.
The State Police Spokesperson, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, who made this known, said that the injured victims are receiving treatment at the General Hospital, Ota, Ogun State.
“The accident involved a black Toyota Highlander Jeep with Registration Number BDG 654 DC. While driving from Tollgate axis towards Kola bus stop along the Abeokuta-Lagos Expressway, the driver rammed into some shops in Amje area.
“As a result of the auto crash, one female victim, Simisola Abedoye, died while five others were critically injured. The injured victims were taken to the General Hospital, Ota, Ogun State, and are currently receiving medical treatment. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the morgue of the same hospital for autopsy,” he said.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, has directed that a speedy and thorough investigation into the accident should be carried out.
He also expressed condolence to the bereaved family of the deceased.
