Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Ekiti Police Command have arrested six students of Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) for cultism.

The Police named the suspects 21-year-old Omole Paul, 22-year-old Okoro Wisdom, 20-year-old David Makinlola, 22-year-Egbabo Kester, 21-year-old Raymond Ejekwu, and 21-year-old Daniel Chiwumba.

In a statement issued by the State Police Spokesperson, ASP Abutu Sunday, the suspects were arrested on Tuesday following credible information that some members of Denorsemen Secret Cult Group were holding a meeting at their hideout in Oye-Ekiti.

“Upon the receipt of the information, the operatives of the Rapid Response Squad(RRS) mobilized to the scene where they arrested the suspects. During interrogation, the suspects arrested claimed to be students of Federal University Oye-Ekiti(FUOYE), he said.

Two cutlasses, one hammer, two cups of loud hemp, three wraps of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, and different charms were recovered.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Tunde Mobayo, while maintaining that the suspects will be prosecuted accordingly, implores parents and guardians to always emphasize the dangers of cultism and other criminal activities to their children and wards.
