The Ondo State Police Command has arrested 50-year-old Nkanu Patrick for impersonation as an Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The suspect was escorting a vehicle conveying pharmaceutical products along Benin/Ore Expressway.
According to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Odunlami Funmilayo, in a statement on Thursday, a team of Policemen attached to Ore Division, who were on stop and search duty along Benin/Ore Expressway, intercepted a Volkswagen Mini Bus carrying Pharmaceutical Products en route Benin being escorted by the suspect in a complete Police camouflage uniform on Wednesday.
His dressing arose the suspicion of the Policemen on duty, and they probed further into his particulars. When asked of his identity, he could not give a satisfactory account of himself as a Police Officer, he said.
The Police also stated that further investigation revealed that the suspect had never been a Policeman but was close to Policemen in his area.
He will soon be charged to Court.
