Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja has fixed Monday, February 28, 2022, to hear the bail application filed by the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, who is currently being detained by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Justice Ekwo fixed the date on Thursday, after counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Mike Kassa, informed the Court that the bail application was not served on him. Although the applicant’s counsel served him with a motion on notice, he said he was yet to be served with the bail application.
Justice Ekwo then directed the applicant’s lawyer, Cynthia Ikenna, to serve Kassa in open Court and adjourned to February 28 to hear Abba Kyari’s bail application.
Abba Kyari, through his lawyer, Cynthia Ikenna, had filed to be released on health grounds.
Kyari told the Court that he is suffering from “diabetes; high blood pressure and severe heart disease that may cause death.”
Also, Abba Kyari is, among other things, praying the Court to order FG to pay him N500million and also tender a written apology to him in two national dailies for the unlawful violation of his fundamental human rights.
