No less than 20 kidnapped victims were rescued by the Police following an attack by armed bandits on some villages around Nasko, Magama Local Government Area of Niger State, on Saturday.
The tactical teams of the Command, military personnel and vigilante engaged the bandits in a fierce gun battle that lasted for about two hours along Ibeto cattle route.
Scores of bandits were neutralised, a large number of rustled cattle were recovered, and 20 abducted victims regained freedom, the State Police Spokesperson, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, said in a statement.
The team also recovered one AK-47 magazine with 30 rounds of live ammunition, seven handsets, and one Honda motorcycle.
Similarly, Police operatives attached to Nasko Division raided an identified hideout of bandits at Anaba hilltop, Magama LGA, on Sunday, where they recovered one Ak-47 rifle with thirteen rounds of live ammunition.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has reiterated the commitment of the Command to rid the State of banditry activities and other crimes.
