Delta State Government has shut down Arise Nursery and Primary School, Asaba, Delta State, where a 19-month-old boy flogged by his teacher gave up the ghost due to injuries sustained from the beating.
The teacher, Emeka Nwogbo, who is the son of the school proprietress, had allegedly flogged the little boy, Obinna Udeze, on Monday, 7th of February, 2022, leaving marks on his body. He was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Asaba, where he died on Saturday, 12th of February, 2022,.
Reacting to the incident, the State Commissioner for Primary Education, Mr. Chika Ossai, disclosed that the school was not approved by the State Government and was shut down on Sunday morning.
Also, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed that the suspect is in custody and an investigation is ongoing.
