No less than 19 suspected internet fraudsters have been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Uyo and Ilorin.

In Uyo, 11 suspects, aged between 18 and 30, were arrested in a sting operation on Wednesday, February 9, 2021.

The suspects are named Caleb Jackson, Inemesit Sunday E., Oputu Samuel Belle from Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, and a Civil engineering student of Uniuyo, Chinonso Ozuruigbo, Onyemaechi Chisom, Nzeakor Uchenna, Umana Israel Victor, Bassey Solomon Utuk Patrick, and Ekemini Akaninyene Effiong.

Meanwhile, eight persons were arrested over their alleged involvement in cyber-fraud, including cheating by impersonation and love scam.

The suspects, Abdulrahman Ridwan, David Ayodeji, Gideon Thomas, Yinus Muiz, Yinus Lateef, Jimoh Ahmed, Lawal Farouk Opeyemi, and Oladimeji Ridwan, were arrested in Basin and Asa-Dam areas of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Exotic cars, mobile phones, and laptops were recovered from the suspects.

They will be charged to court as soon as the investigation is completed, according to EFCC.
